Sensirion - SGP40

General Description

The Sensirion SGP40 sensor provides real-time measurements of volatile organic compounds (VOC). The sensor also provides temperature and relative humidity measurements. The SGP40 sensors are metal oxide (MOx) based sensors intended for indoor air quality applications. The sensors output VOC index values that can be converted to VOC concentrations in ppb using vendor-provided algorithms based on known laboratory conditions using ethanol as a test gas.

Principle of Operation

The Sensirion SGP40 sensor uses a metal oxide gas sensor to detect VOC. The sensor is equipped with a temperature-controlled micro hotplate to provide a humidity-compensated VOC signal that is converted to a VOC index using Sensirion’s Gas Index Algorithm.
