The AQ-SPEC program has acquired a number of commercially available "low-cost" air quality sensors. Please click on the image for information on a specific sensor as provided by the manufacturer.
General Description
The Liveable Cities (a division of LED Roadway Lighting Limited) air quality sensors provide real-time measurements of PM1.0, PM2.5 and PM10 mass concentrations (SLX-PM2.5) and real-time measurements of NO2 (SLX-NO2) and O3 (SLX-O3). These air quality sensors are attached on top of a streetlight via streetlight ANSI-standard receptacle.
Principle of Operation The Liveable Cities – SLX-PM2.5 uses the Alphasense OPC-R2 sensor as the raw PM sensor which uses laser beams to detect particles from 0.30 to 12.4 µm in diameter with 16 software bins. Count measurements are converted into mass concentrations of PM1.0, PM2.5 & PM10 using embedded algorithms. The Liveable Cities – SLX-NO2 uses the Alphasense NO2-B43F gas sensitive electrochemical sensors to measure NO2. The Liveable Cities – SLX-O3 uses the Renesas ZMOD4510 gas sensitive metal-oxide to measure O3.
