Sensor List

The AQ-SPEC program has acquired a number of commercially available "low-cost" air quality sensors.  Please click on the image for information on a specific sensor as provided by the manufacturer.

Aeroqual S500-GSS

General Description

The Aeroqual Series 500 is a handheld monitor that can be used with a wide range of gas sensor and particulate matter sensor heads. The sensor head used in this AQ-SPEC evaluation is the volatile organic compounds (VOC) Gas Sensitive Semiconductor (GSS) head (0-25 ppm) that provides real-time measurements of VOC concentrations.

Principle of Operation

The Aeroqual Series 500 GSS (0-25 ppm) sensor applies Gas Sensitive Semiconductor (GSS) technology to proprietary heated metal oxide semiconductor gas sensors. The metal oxide sensor exhibits a change in electrical resistance in the presence of a target gas and the change in electrical resistance is proportional to the concentration of the target gas. The sensors come factory calibrated.
