Working with Communities Volunteers Help to Build a Sustainable Future

On November 2, South Coast AQMD’s Working With Communities (WWC) volunteers, in partnership with Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles, were back at the Holmes Project in the Southeast Los Angeles AB 617 designated community. Approximately 15 employees and family volunteers assisted to build eight new two-story townhomes that will feature drought tolerant landscaping, energy efficient appliances, recycled insulation content, and solar energy systems.

For several volunteers, this was their second time on the project site, where they had helped prep the foundation and set the framing in January 2024. Volunteers were amazed at how the project builds had progressed and were excited to continue the work to bring the project closer to completion.
