On December 16, 2015, the South Coast AQMD deployed air monitoring trailers at two locations:
- The first trailer was deployed at a Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) property, and
- The second trailer was deployed In the Porter Ranch community near the Aliso Canyon Facility site.
These locations were confirmed by survey mobile platform continuous methane measurements conducted in and around the Porter Ranch community to be suitable for fixed site monitoring.
Both trailers are measuring continuous methane and non-methane hydrocarbons (see continuous methane measurement data). When high concentrations are measured, canisters are automatically triggered to collect grab samples (see triggered grab sample data). Other canisters are being deployed to collect 24-hour integrated samples on a periodic basis (see 24-hour integrated sample data) . Results from the analysis of grab samples and 24 hour integrated canister samples by the South Coast AQMD laboratory provide a more thorough understanding of the pollutants present. Additional capabilities may be added to the air monitoring trailers as the data and situation are assessed.
Additional monitoring strategies are being evaluated in collaboration with other agencies.
