NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that a public hearing on the matter of adoption of proposed amendments to South Coast Air Quality Management District (AQMD) Rule 1111 will be held on Friday, November 6, 2009 in the Diamond Bar Auditorium, AQMD Headquarters, 21865 Copley Drive, Diamond Bar, CA, at 9:00 a.m. or later, at which time evidence will be taken and all interested persons will be heard by the AQMD Board.

NOTICE IS FURTHER GIVEN that the air quality objective for which AQMD is considering the amendment of Rule 1111 is the reduction of emissions of nitrogen oxides (NOx) in order to meet ambient air quality standards.  The AQMD is considering lowering the NOx emission limits for newly manufactured residential and commercial furnaces with a heat input rate less than 175,000 British thermal units per hour (Btu/hr) or, for combination heating and cooling units, a cooling rate of less than 65,000 Btu/hr.  The proposed rule would lower the NOx emission limit to 14 nanograms per Joule of heat output and will require mobile home units to meet emission limits.   The proposed amended rule will also provide incentives for early compliance.

NOTICE IS FURTHER GIVEN that the analysis required by Health and Safety Code Section 40727.2 has been prepared and is part of the staff report which is available as specified below.

NOTICE IS FURTHER GIVEN that the AQMD has prepared documents, for consideration by the AQMD Board, including:

• Proposed Amended Rule 1111;
• Staff Report regarding the proposed amendments to Rule 1111;
• Socioeconomic Assessment; and
• Environmental Assessment for the California Environmental Quality Act.

NOTICE IS FURTHER GIVEN that at the conclusion of the public hearing, the AQMD Board may make other amendments to Rule 1111 which are justified by the evidence presented, or may decline the amendments.

Interested persons are invited to attend and submit oral or written statements at the Board Hearing. Twenty-five (25) copies of all written materials must be submitted to the Clerk of the Board.
