May 4, 2004 The South Coast Air Quality Management District issued a
smoke advisory in the non-desert portions of Riverside County today due to
wildfires and localized areas of smoke in Southern California.
As a result of the wildfires, concentrations of fine particulates are
expected to reach the unhealthy level in the smoke-impacted areas. All
individuals are urged to exercise caution and avoid unnecessary outdoor
activities in the smoke impacted areas.
The air quality today is forecast to reach 105 (Unhealthy for Sensitive
Groups) on the Air Quality Index (AQI) in the following areas:

Corona/ Norco/ Mira Loma

Metropolitan Riverside

Perris Valley
-
Lake Elsinore
-
Temecula Valley
-
Anza Valley
-
Hemet/San Jacinto
In areas with air quality that is Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups (AQI of
101 to 150), sensitive or susceptible persons, such as those with heart or
lung disease, should minimize outdoor activity.
AQMD is the air pollution control agency for Orange County and major
portions of Los Angeles, San Bernardino and Riverside counties.
