The Governing Board
appointed Kurt as General Counsel in July 2008. Kurt has served in a
variety of legal positions at the AQMD, starting as a Deputy Prosecutor in
the Chief Prosecutor’s Office in 1989 and as District Counsel as of November
2004. Before joining the AQMD, Kurt worked in the Los Angeles office
of the law firm of Pettit & Martin.
Kurt has a bachelor’s
degree in philosophy from Tulane University and a law degree from the
University of Arizona. He has served on the Environmental Law Committee of
the Los Angeles Bar Association. He taught for a number of years as an
adjunct professor at Western University College of Law and in the
environmental compliance program at California State University Fullerton.
Kurt also enjoys
spending his time away from the AQMD with his wife and two daughters.
